NC Outdoors

A couple weeks ago Garett's brother Jeff came out from AZ for a visit. It was his first time coming out to the East Coast and to say he was amazed at how green and alive things are out here is an understatement. We all went to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and camped for one night on the "Big Creek." It was awesome. You might think that with this much water there would have been mosquitoes galore, but not so. There is no "standing" water so there are no places for mosquitoes to breed. Awesome! And the foliage is so thick that we didn't need sunscreen either.

Spencer only fell 7 times while we were there, fortunately not into the water.
After family camping for one night, Garett, Jeff, and David (Garett's friend) hit the trail and camped on top of Mount Sterling the first night. It was a 6.1 mile hike, up hill to the top.
The second day they hiked about 16.5 miles through some awesome less traveled back country trails.

Since Jeff had never seen DC before we drove up there. He would go into town on the metro during the day to see the sights while we would hang out with Lance and Stephanie. One evening we went up to see the DC temple and some exhibits there, it was awesome.
